“Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.” Jeremiah 18:5-6
In about two days, February will be here. If you are like most people, you started this year with resolutions and determinations. However, as the days and weeks progress, those resolutions, goals or determinations seem further and further away. This can cause you to truly give up hope that there can ever be a change.
In an all night prayer meeting, God reminded me of the verse above. God told Jeremiah to go to a potter’s house and observe what he is doing. The potter was molding clay, and the clay became marred. (damaged) Instead of throwing out the clay, the potter remolds the clay. God ask’s Jeremiah, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” God was challenging Israel. The challenge was whether or not they believe He could change them.
God is asking us today, “Can I not do with you as this potter does?” Do you believe that he can really change you? Yes we’re marred. We’re damaged. We fall short. We make mistakes. We may not be accomplishing all that we set out to do in the beginning of the year. The question is, do we stay there or do we get up, put our lives in the hands of The Potter, and trust Him to mold us and shape us as He sees fit.
Our Father is a good father. He has the best intentions for us so we can definitely trust Him to mold us. Place your life in the hands of The Potter. Watch him do even more than you can ask or think.
