Deborah Graham Torres is a native of New York City. Born and raised in East Harlem New York she is no stranger to dance. In high school she took dance classes for three years. Deborah always had a passion for dance. It didn’t matter what type of dance it was, you could always find her dancing. On December 10, 1995 she opened her heart to her first love Jesus Christ and invited Him in. Since making that major decision in her life, God has given her a burden for the lost; and a burden to see the Body of Christ truly be the witnesses God has called them to be.

In 1996, Deborah was first introduced to the ministry of dance and worship flags at a praise dance concert. As she sat at the back of the church which seated over a thousand people, she was amazed at what she felt as this ministry went forth. The power of God and the fire she felt in her body as the ministry went forth was the beginning of God birthing this desire to worship Him in the dance. Although Deborah had this experience, she never thought God would use her to minister His word in dance, let alone with the flags. In 1997, Deborah became the administrator for the Praise Movement Ministries a dance team at Bethel Gospel Assembly in Harlem New York under the leadership of Joe Dell Hutcheson. In spring of 2000, God put a desire in Deborah’s heart to begin ministering in dance. This was a scary thing to her, but in obedience to God she stepped out in faith. It was there her heart for evangelism was stirred and along with the team she ministered the Gospel in the streets of Harlem and overseas.

In 2004, Deborah began studying Praise Dance formally under Wendy Heagy at the Raise HIM Up Praise Dance School. She was encouraged by Sister Wendy to take a three month dance intensive during the summer of 2005. This was a life changing moment for Deborah. It was during this time that God not only confirmed that He called her to minister His word in the dance and flags, but that he called Deborah to teach dance and flags. To Deborah there is no difference with the dance and flags. The flags are just an extension of what God has enabled her to do through His Holy Spirit. Since then God has used Deborah to minister to the lost everywhere, here in the United States and overseas. She has been teaching dance with the flags since 2007 and loves it.

By God’s leading Deborah attended and graduated the Dancing for Him Ministries Training School Level One & Two program under Pastor Lynn Hayden’s leadership.  As a result of these programs she grew in her ballet, liturgical and modern dance skills.  She built upon her knowledge of worship tools and increased in the biblical knowledge about dance.  Upon successfully completing the Level One program, Deborah received her Worship Dance Teacher’s Certificate and after completing Level Two she receive her Dance Minister’s Certificate of License.

Deborah believes that the dance is used to usher people into the presence of God and to break the strongholds of Satan in our churches, families, neighborhoods, states, country and the world. Deborah currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, Rev. Edgard Torres, Jr.
