“For sighing has become my daily food; my groans pour out like water. What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.”
Job 3:24-26 NIV

You know, every time I read the book of Job, it touches my heart. I say that because you see Job, a man who was considered to be righteous, but whom God allowed to have so much difficult things happen to him.
Nevertheless, in his distress he doesn’t curse God. Nevertheless, you do see his pain. You see his turmoil, you see his confusion and he expresses it all in rare form to God. Seeing how his friends try to put him down and eventually what God does for him and shows him in the process is amazing.
But what touches my heart every time is hearing Job’s pain and distress. It’s real. I can relate to it. I have experienced times of great loss. I had all sorts of emotions, questions and pain. I, along with so many of us, have experienced times where we felt so low.
I believe that God uses the story of Job to help us realize that he hears us. God is not unaware, He is not so silent as we may feel, and He understands. He knows there may be times in our lives where we experience great loss and sorrow. He understands and is with us, even if we don’t see it and like Job, wonder where He is.
Paul stated, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-5.
God sees, understands, and is able to comfort us during our hardest times. And it’s this comfort, that we can share to others. So to all who may be going through a hard time right now, just know he is with you and he will keep you and comfort you.
