“Have Aaron your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, so that they may serve me as priests. Make sacred garments for your brother Araon to give him dignity and honor.” Exodus 28:1-2 (NIV)

As I read this scripture for my devotions this morning, my mind automatically went to 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…” As I meditated on this scripture, I also began to remember Psalm 8:5, “You made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.” As I meditated on these scriptures, I began to realize that I have dignity and honor,  glory and splendor, and I am the head and not the tail. (Deut. 28:13)

If you are anything like me, you can be very hard on yourself sometimes, Sometimes we need to check ourselves and correct ourselves, but at other times, looking so down at ourselves can sometimes cause us to overlook, not see or even deny the work that Christ has done for us. Romans 4:25 states, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” 1 John 4:10 states, “This is love: not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”  1 Peter 2:24 states, “He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness. ‘by his wounds you have been healed.”

You see, claiming that we have dignity, honor, glory, being the head and not the tail and more is not because of what we have done, or even can do. It is because of the work Christ has done. As Paul states in Ephesians, God, through Christ, “…seated us with him in the heavenly realms…” It is a glorious work He has done in us. So we can safely brag, because the truth is, we are bragging about Him, not us.

So the next time you may feel down about yourself, remember what Christ has done. God, through Christ, has crowned you with glory, dignity and honor. Continue to rejoice in what He has done.
